Creator of BrowardPeople.com / Former Producer at WSVN-7

From Anita Mitchell: I am the “creatress” of browardpeople.com, my blog that tells the story of Broward County and the two million people who live here … one person at a time. Before that, I spent 26 years as an assignment editor/field producer for WSVN-7 in the Broward Bureau. Every day of that job was a front row seat to interesting, poignant, belly-laugh inducing, hard-to-believe-people-really-did-that stories. On my last day I confessed to everyone that I never learned any of the computer systems.

I know this seems off-the-grid for me but from all of those years covering court cases I became interested in law and got certified as legal arbitrator for FINRA.org where I sometimes arbitrate legal cases.
Since 2004, I have been a member of Swim Fort Lauderdale., our local multi-championship masters swim team. I compete locally, nationally and internationally and have represented the United States in both the 19th and 20th Maccabiah Games in Israel. I have both bronze and silver medals from those competitions.
I am also on the Board of Directors of the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame,. We honor local residents who have set unique standards of excellence through sports. I don’t really know how the writing and the swimming and the honoring local sports figures and the legal cases are connected but I know in my heart they are.”

I have a BA from Michigan State University in Communications/English and was part of the journalism graduate program at Florida International University.

I have one son, Randy who currently lives in Tokyo Japan.
