Whuhuuu! #db is two freaking yeas old :D How fun is that :D yeahy yeahy yeahy :D

Or at least it seems like it is. According to mircstats.differentbrains.org that starts on 2007 03 25.

But then I started doing some research. Oh me and my research. Why do I always have to ruin stuff with research. (Can’t remember that i actually do this, anyway.)

As I was reading along in the log-file of 2007.03.25 to find some information on that first day in #db history, I found myself, in the log file, complaining that the file logging wasn’t turned on. (Go back and read that again if it didn’t make sense, I know every other word in that statement was “log”) Realizing this caused my brain to think “Wait a minute, if the logging wasn’t turned on, the stats on mircstats.differentbrains.org didn’t start before 2007.03.25” I desperatly read along to find more clues, to get to the bottom of it, and lo and behold, a few lines later I found myself again, in the log-file, talking about the option of useing some of my personal log files as a source of stats information, but then, for some unknown reson, we concluded that we could start from scratch, like a new fresh start. And that’s what we did. And that’s why I though just moments ago, that #db was 2 years old today. So somewhere, lost in space (or disk-space), is a unknown history of #db,  the search of local log files begun.

And what did I find??!?

I found log files, and a whole lot of them, 8111 to be exact! And among those, I found the first #db log, namely: #db.20060531.log.

So What happen on 2007 03 25?

My research didn’t cover that so much, I just followed the research where it took me, and it took me back to 2006.05.31 where the acctual start of #db occured. But from what I recall in my bright overview on the subject. We were changing or upgrading servers. And because of laziness, and forgetting to turn file-logging on, we decided that it could be a fresh start.

Why do we celebrate this?

I don’t think we are, not anymore at least. It seemed fun. Up until i realized that #db don’t really have a birthday until the end of may.

Never mind, forget this post. I’ll be back with more in the end of May. Unless more research take me elsewhere. Who knows where I’ll end up. I’m all confused now.
