Thursday blogging on a irc-way
by BollaPinsvin March 19th, 2009Standy and eM has been trying to get me started scripting. Wich i think is fun. My only problem is the motivation. You see, i’m the kind of person who can never do anything unless it has a logical purpose. And that rules out all silly games you just play to keep ypourself entertained. The games allready made has been exidingly welcome to the population of #db, and they play all kinds of things all the time. But i never really saw the point. They all have so much IK now. I remember when no one had more that 18 IK, and they were all going crazy with the coin.. I want to make something useful. Like a homework-helpline or a #db adress and contact – library. Or whatever else you could suggest that has a useful purpose. Let me know if there’s anything you miss, that could be handy.

It sounds to me, like you would be more interested to working with X than with Z… Z is out “casino”, X is our “sensible” bot… We are looking to updating that some too… eg. our alarm script, that works as a reminder… eg. we have !pizza, an alarm that goes of after 10min… But this should be customizable… so that when i type !pizza, or !alarm pizza, it asks me for settings the first time… and since i like my pizza well done, and someone else don’t, then everyone can be happy with their settings… so on so forth… X has a lot of potential, and has not been worked on for a while… i’ll introduce you l8r :)

eM has a very good point there.. and, i know eldar does not like this, but i’d like to introduce you to Java, after you’ve been playing around with irc for a while… It would be fun to have someone to make real projects with. For instance, we made this mp3 player.. and i am sitting here afterwards, learned so much, and i really want to do it again, just not all by myself.. and when i have time so.. :) you just tell me when you’ve gotten a hang of it =) it’s really the same thing, just different ways of saying the same things… ok.. i should stop now.. been writing a little to much =)

Java? mIRC Scripts? You guys are all just crazy people, I tell ya :P
Now, if you guys would like to do something _really_ useful, you could create the new dynamic version of the Daily Bread screen saver. Would be really cool to get that done… Don’t know if it is possible, but would be cool to have it platform independant. So maybe that is a thing for you Java people? https://screensavers.dev.java.net Would be so awesome if we managed to do it… I could maybe try join in as well, although my Java is a bit rusty :p
