Humm..what to choose..

Few doctrinal subjects have generated more passionate debate among Christians than the theme of the trinity. Churches have split and wars have even been fought over the issues that surround the nature of the Godhead.

I am currently having visits on Mondays from another denomination, where we talk about and discuss what I believe and what they believe. One of the topics we’ve come across is the trinity. They claim there is no such thing, while I claim there is. Another part of their argument is that Jesus is not God.

While I was gathering “proofs” for my view, i came across an acticle on the trinity that was really good. My advice is that you read it sometime you’ve got time, however, I’ll share some.

Is Jesus Fully God?

Another group questions whether Jesus actually possesses all the characteristics of the Eternal God. They stem from Arius, a 4th century Alexandrian priest, who had a different take on God. He taught that prior to making anything else, God created a son who was neither equal to, nor coeternal with, the Father. According to this idea, called Arianism, Jesus Christ is a supernatural creature, but He is neither fully human nor fully divine. Still others embrace a more immature version of this doctrine, holding that back in the dawn of time, God the Father had some form of cosmic intimate relations with the Holy Spirit and Jesus was the product. They reason, “How else can you call Him the Son?”

However, these concepts are totally contrary to the teaching of the New Testament in which Jesus is revealed as the Eternal Creator and not a created being (John 1:1–4). As we compare Scripture definitions for God with the Bible record of Jesus, we see the characteristics of Jehovah are also ascribed to Jesus. Note these powerful examples:

• He is self-existent (John 1:1–4; 14:6); only God is self-existent (Psalm 90:2).
• Jesus defines Himself as eternal. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).
• He is, and has, eternal life (1 John 5:11, 12, 20).
• He is all-powerful (Revelation 1:8).
• He created all things (John 1:3). “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16 NKJV).
• The Father even calls Jesus God. “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom” (Hebrews 1:8).
• Jesus is able to forgive sin (Luke 5:20, 21); The Bible says only God can forgive sin (Isaiah 43:25).
• Jesus accepted worship that according to the Ten Commandments is reserved only for the Almighty (Matthew 14:33). “And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, ‘All hail.’ And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him” (Matthew 28:9). Upon seeing the risen Savior, the converted skeptic, Thomas, confessed, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:26–29).
• Even the angels worship Jesus. “And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him” (Hebrews 1:6).
• The Scriptures also teach that only God knows the thoughts of a man’s heart (1 Kings 8:39). Yet Jesus consistently knew what people were thinking, “for he knew what was in man” (John 2:25). “Nathanael said to Him, ‘How do You know me?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you’” (John 1:48 NKJV).
• Through the Spirit, Jesus is omnipresent. “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20 NKJV). “For I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city” (Acts 18:10 NKJV).
• He has power to give life, and even resurrected Himself. “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again” (John 10:18). “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11:25).

Therefore, by considering the primary definitions of God, and seeing that Jesus fits every one of those definitions, obviously, Jesus must be eternal God.

This morning i put on my new bikini, that I havent had the oportunity to swim in yet, with my foot and all, and i danced around in my livingroom. Why? Because it was just so damn sunny outside.
Let me tell y’all guys something about being married. Sometimes it sucks. Like when Th turns off the TV and says: Lets go to bed!, and i was in the middle of a program that i wanted to see, and not really tired enough to go to bed. But th say he cant sleep unless i come to bed with him. That, me being awake in the livingroom is noisy, and he cant sleep. And he has to sleep, because he gets up so early every morning. So, I’m back to my 9th grade curfue. Being sendt to bed. But let me tell you another thing about marriage. Sometimes it’s great! Like when Th has made me come to bed eary for so many days in a row, that i wake up all by my self at 7 in the morning, and feeling all rested out. Thats whan i get to dance in the morning sun in my bikini.. We only get the sun here at Røa early in the mornong. at 10, the sun is consrtained to the corner of the driveway, and by noon, there’s no more sun. If i had slept to 10 or 11 like i usually do, i would have missed the whole thing.

But then I started doing some research. Oh me and my research. Why do I always have to ruin stuff with research. (Can’t remember that i actually do this, anyway.)

As I was reading along in the log-file of 2007.03.25 to find some information on that first day in #db history, I found myself, in the log file, complaining that the file logging wasn’t turned on. (Go back and read that again if it didn’t make sense, I know every other word in that statement was “log”) Realizing this caused my brain to think “Wait a minute, if the logging wasn’t turned on, the stats on mircstats.differentbrains.org didn’t start before 2007.03.25” I desperatly read along to find more clues, to get to the bottom of it, and lo and behold, a few lines later I found myself again, in the log-file, talking about the option of useing some of my personal log files as a source of stats information, but then, for some unknown reson, we concluded that we could start from scratch, like a new fresh start. And that’s what we did. And that’s why I though just moments ago, that #db was 2 years old today. So somewhere, lost in space (or disk-space), is a unknown history of #db,  the search of local log files begun.

And what did I find??!?

I found log files, and a whole lot of them, 8111 to be exact! And among those, I found the first #db log, namely: #db.20060531.log.

So What happen on 2007 03 25?

My research didn’t cover that so much, I just followed the research where it took me, and it took me back to 2006.05.31 where the acctual start of #db occured. But from what I recall in my bright overview on the subject. We were changing or upgrading servers. And because of laziness, and forgetting to turn file-logging on, we decided that it could be a fresh start.

Why do we celebrate this?

I don’t think we are, not anymore at least. It seemed fun. Up until i realized that #db don’t really have a birthday until the end of may.

Never mind, forget this post. I’ll be back with more in the end of May. Unless more research take me elsewhere. Who knows where I’ll end up. I’m all confused now.

Standy and eM has been trying to get me started scripting. Wich i think is fun. My only problem is the motivation. You see, i’m the kind of person  who can never do anything unless it has a logical purpose. And that rules out all silly games you just play to keep ypourself entertained. The games allready made has been exidingly welcome to the population of #db, and they play all kinds of things all the time. But i never really saw the point. They all have so much IK now. I remember when no one had more that 18 IK, and they were all going crazy with the coin.. I want to make something useful. Like a homework-helpline or a #db adress and contact – library. Or whatever else you could suggest that has a useful purpose. Let me know if there’s anything you miss, that could be handy.

I am trying to get a job this summer, and I am willing to sacrifice the usual things I use to do in the summer vacations, like ‘speiderleir’ and ‘sommerstevnet’. Whatever we call that in english…Cash is important theese days, always has been and probably always will be. Well. Not always…

So, what else is new? Yesterday we went to Oslo and watched Postgirobygget for free, and after there was lots and lots of fireworks. YAY! Today my brother and his wife is supposed to have their baby, but i’t doesn’t seem like he’s coming out just yet. But were all exited!

The good thing about having a constant headache is when it goes away. Can’t wait. Yaaay?!
