What a week :D

So, i ended up sick, and got the whole week off, that triggered the start of our massive redo and upgrade of our IRC server and our game system IK…

So what’s new?

The PC:
CPU: Pentum 4 2.60GHz
OS: Linux, Ubuntu with VirtualBox and WinXP for our Bots X, Z and MSN.

New functions:
SMS

It is now possible to send sms to the channel again. Just send an sms to +47 48420864 and it will appear in the channel.
With time, this will be upgraded to include the possibility to send sms from the channel, and some other features.

MSN

We’ve thrown our MSN bot back to life, so it is now possible to chat from msn in our IRC channel. Just add the adress differentbrains@gmail.com to you MSN, and you’ll be welcomed by out bot.

IKv2

So, this is the bigges update, our IK gaming system that we run on our channel for joy and entertainment. All the games have been upgraded, and bugs are now history!

More importantly, the way you earn your IK has been changed and is now much more interesting, and awards those of you who talk in long sentances and don’t only play the games….

The rules for the math are these:
1 IK is 500 char, but
If you type more than 20 char per line, you’ll get more value per character, and less if you type less. Also, if you play very much compared to how much you talk to others, the value of your characters will go down
Then we end up with this: If you type 25 char, and play 50% of the time, you will only get 25*1.05*0.5 = 13.125 IK char for those 25 char you typed. So, if you play less compared to how much you talk, and talk in longer lines and not stuff like “:)” all the time, you’ll get more value for your typing, eg: 30char and 98% talk = 30*1.1*0.98 = 32.34 IK

You get the picture…

Games:

So we have some new games as well:

!bob This is a game that is played randomly, when Z feels like it, point it to repeat what Z said, before anyone else does it.
!mbob Same consept as with !bob, but here you have to do some easy math.

Also, as i said, all the games have been rewritten, and are more over faster and does not contain bugs, they also have good help files, so you know how to use them…

Help:

So, we hope you like our updates, and if you have any comments, we’ll be glad to hear from you!

Now, go to #DB, and type !help to get started :)
